La Soie Bridal Boutique is centrally located on the busiest street called State street in downtown Santa Barbara. This high-end boutique redefines the shopping experience from the previous nondescript “store” to a sophisticated boutique for the bride-to-be.. The color scheme and soft ambient light gives a pure, elegant, and romantic feeling to the bridal boutique. Dark Walnut finished wood casework and Mosa brown tiles create a contrasting highlight for the space. The existing skylight has been replaced with new glazing and the existing security bars were removed to bring in more natural light to the interior space. Display niches were added to enhance the visual experience. The challenge was to turn a small, outdated, existing store to a high-end boutique that meets all the functions and requirements needed to service the owner's clientele. The solution was to open up the space both visually and physically. The space planning was carefully arranged so there was a clear spatial sequence from public to semi-public to private spaces.
