Sino Ocean Mountain Resort | Chongqing, China
One of the challenges of this project was to design an attached housing development with the feel of a Single Family Residence community. Our objective was to create resort-like sustainable villas that reflects the craftsmanship-style of architecture with a contemporary atmosphere of elegance and warmth.
The concept was to fully utilize large usable courtyards between each home, which allows the architectural elevations to feel separate from its neighbor. Heavy consideration to its local Chongqing climate was demonstrated by creating large outdoor spaces that took advantage for cross ventilation of the interior spaces. Each villa was specially designed with refreshment and comfort in mind. To complement the beauty of its surrounding golf course and natural environment, our team implemented the design with a natural color palette, graceful wing-like roof lines, shingle and sandstone-bluff exteriors, clinker-brick masonry, rich woodwork and natural stone surfaces.
These villas take full advantage of the adjacent golf course, the natural river, and the surrounding mountains. Maximizing natural sunlight, ventilation, and views were the goals to achieve for this unique project. Large loggia, terrace and outdoor sitting areas were introduced to promote outdoor living. Large windows and doors were used to unify the interior and exterior spaces. The open sunken courtyard brings both natural light and fresh air to the basement and creates an outdoor activity space.
